ZANZIBAR-CLASS CRUISER CCM-87 "EUROPA"

Service History:
CCM-87 "Europa"  was the last of the seven Zanzibar-class battleships from the first batch production built by the Principality of Zeon. The ship was laid down in the Side-3 dockyard in August UC. 0076 and commissioned into the Space fleet nearly two years later.

Upon Completion, CCM-87 Europa was commissioned for space trials on 6 July 0078. Her crew largely came from her sister ship CCM-80 Zanzibar. On 22 September the ship was assigned to Third Battle Squadron of the Space Attack Fleet, alongside her sister ships. In November, fleet and unit exercises were conducted in the Solomon area.

Early One Year War:
At the outbreak of One Year War in January 0079, Europa was assigned to guard duty along side Gwazine-class Great Degwin while the rest of the fleet mobilized. In late February, she and her sisters were sent back to maintenance dockyard to have improvements made to their atmospheric protection system to make them more adaptable in Earth atmosphere for earth drop operations, after which she joined the Earth Attack fleet 2nd Squadron. The squadron covered Colonel M'Quve's Zanzibar, the Madagascar while they descent to Odessa and perform numerous operations there.

Operation Odessa:
On 11 November 0079, despite the ferocity of the federation's attack, the Europa and her sister ships punched through the Federation forces and manage to launched safely outside earth atmosphere carrying Zeon's top brass and their family. They travel straight to the Moon Base Granada where she drop the refugee and get repaired.

Battle of A Baoa Qu:
After the fall of Solomon on 24 December 0079, Europa joined Rear Admiral Kycilia Zabi's Mobile Assault Forces to provide backup for Space Fortress A Baoa Qu. During this time, she got hit three times by the federation MS assault, severely damaging her main generator and engine, also killing 32 of her crew. She eventually foundered in A Baoa Qu space gate. As the ship was permanently disabled, her remaining crew was sent ashore to assist in the defense of A Baoa Qu while Europa laying still in the space gate ruins until the war over on 31 December UC. 0079.

After the War:
As the A Baoa Qu falls to the hands of Federation and later on became the base for Titans and renamed "Gate of Zedan", Zanzibar-Class CCM-87 Europa partially repaired and was used as target practice for Titans training cadets but eventually sold to civilian company to be scrapped.

As of UC.0086, the ship's left Gun turret was on display in Republic of Zeon's One Year War History Museum in Side-3.
